Join us on our New Year plant hunt, 2pm Sunday 3rd January

In recent years, members of the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland have been out as individuals or groups to record plants in flower on New Year’s Day.

As the 1st January may not suit everyone, the recording period this year is 1st -4th January. The botany group of the Isle of Wight Natural History and Archaeological Society is proposing an expedition on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd January from  2- 3.30 pm to record and count what is flowering in the wild (that is, out of gardens) in the Ventnor area. Meet at the free car park at Wheelers Bay SZ 568 775, with an optional extension afterwards to watch the sun set over the sea (weather permitting) from a café on Ventnor seafront. Check for updates on the IWNHAS website before setting out
