Visit of Wild Flower Society

Seven members of the Wild Flower Society visited the Island last weekend for two days of botanising, led by Colin Pope. In glorious sunny weather, Saturday was spent walking the cliffs at Afton Down, looking at the chalk grassland flora, followed by a walk from Fort Victoria to Norton Spit. Amongst interesting species observed was Oxtongue Broomrape, Hairy Fruited Cornsalad, Bee Orchids,Hoary Stock.

Sunday was spent at Culver Down, followed by a visit to the Field Cowheat Site in St. Lawrence.
