CoCoast is a project that aims to find out more about the species that live in our seas and how we can protect them. Within the project, scientists from 7 hubs around the UK work together with the members of the public to collect information about marine species along our UK coasts.
Project volunteers can go out to their local coast and collect data with a focus on species that interest them. You don’t need any prior knowledge about marine life or recording – the CoCoast team will support you in developing the simple survey skills required.
The final Training Day of the project here in the South East is being held at the Portsmouth Hub and takes place on Sunday 15th April at the Institute of Marine Sciences (PO4 9LY). There is no cost involved in this training or participation but you must be over 18 years of age. You can find out more about upcoming events on Eventbrite by searching CoCoast SE.
More info can be found at (http://www.capturingourcoast.co.uk/) or on the regional Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CoCoastSE). If you would like further information about the project please contact Project Officer Zoe Morrall and Research Assistant Sarah Long (email: cocoast@port.ac.uk).
