The IWNHAS Grant Scheme: Bringing Your Projects to Life

Thanks to a generous bequest from Jean McCormac, the Isle of Wight Natural History & Archaeological Society runs a small grant scheme which gives grants to projects that further the aims of the Society.

Who is this for?

Whether you are a professional researcher, a dedicated hobbyist, or a community group, we want to hear from you. We have allocated up to £5,000 annually for project grants and an additional £1,500 specifically to support appropriate training courses. While we naturally favour our members in the award process, you do not need to be a member of the Society to apply.

We’re Here to Help

We aim to keep this scheme accessible and the application process straightforward.

  • Ready to go? If you already have a clear plan that promotes the study or conservation of the Island’s natural history and archaeology, we invite you to review the grant requirements and if appropriate, apply straight away.
  • Just an idea? If you are wondering whether your project is a good fit, or if you need a little guidance on the criteria, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to have an informal discussion to offer advice and support before you submit your formal application.

Our aim is to support projects that enhance our knowledge of the Island’s flora, fauna, geology, and historic environment. We look forward to seeing how we can work together to preserve and celebrate the Isle of Wight.
