  Twelve people met at the Eight Bells car park, Carisbrooke, where Bill Shepard told us that the house adjoining the car park had once been a bakery, known as Staple House, and showed us an invoice from 1823, when a gallon of dough made a 9lb loaf. We set off down the High Stree

 15 members met at the beginning of the cycle track in Thorley Road, Yarmouth on a calm, very cold but lovely sunny morning for a slow walk to Barnfields pond and return. At the beginning of the path we spotted a Song Thrush , Blackbird, Robin, Wren and Great Tit.

No group meeting today so that those who wish can join the ‘Looking at the Countryside’ walk at Seaview.  See main programme for details.
